Dana White, Forrest Griffin, and Kenny….Florini??

May 16, 2009 | Filed Under Dr. Phil, MMA, Mike G, Mixed Martial Arts, Sports, UFC, news | No Comments

I’m sure if you are a fan of fights, both in and out of the cage, you have at one time or another seen backyard brawl video’s online. With the recent popularity of MMA and all the hype the UFC has been receving over the last few years. It was only a matter of time till the backyard brawling and Ultimate Fighting would be linked together. That’s exactly what happened on a recent episode of Dr. Phil entitled, Dangerous Teenage Trends.

Mr. UFC himself Dana White graced the stage along with Forrest Griffin and Kenny Florian, or as Dr. Phil likes to call him Kenny Florini. They all came on the show to talk to two boy’s who garnered some popularity online after they posted a video of them going at it Fight Club style in a classroom.

I’m assuming the point for them coming on was to shy the kids away from a life of fighting, but It’s just seemed like the best they could come up with was “Just be careful“. On top of that Forrest added that he appreciated their spirit. I’m no psychologist but if I was an impressionable young lad aspiring to becoming a cage fighter and Forrest Griffin said he appreciated my spirit, I would probably go film another fight that same night. So it’s probably not exactly what Dr. Phil was expecting.

Oh and Dana White, I think the subject matter of the day just flew straight over his head because all he was really talking about was the comparison he makes between boxing and MMA. Here check it out for yourself.

Craig Robinson: Baddest Man on the Planet

May 16, 2009 | Filed Under Craig Robinson, Entertainment, Mike G, news | No Comments

You may have known him from The Office, or maybe from one of his many movies. Most recently from Pineapple Express. Maybe you were lucky enough to see him perform with the Nasty Delicious. But from here on I decree that he be known as the man who stuck it to the judicial system and won.

Lets backtrack for a min for everyone who doesn’t know what the story is. Back in 2008 Craig Robinson was rolled by the cops for a traffic violation (or so they say). That’s when they found a butt load of drugs on him (meth and ecstasy). He was also under the influence of cocaine, amphetamines and cannabinoids.

Excuse my french but, any other man would be fucked, straight fucked. But not Mr. Nasty Delicious. Him and his brilliant lawyer came up with the perfect defense. All he had to say was that he was guilty of driving while big and black. Yeah he took some Drug education classes and meetings, BUT STILL! Who else can honestly say they could have gotten out of doing some serious time, and lets not use the celebrity excuse. As much as I love the guy he’s not an A list celebrity.

So to you Craig Robinson, Mr. Nasty Delicious, we salute you! Your quick thinking, fast talking, and smooth personality got you out of a hell of a situation. All we can do is Clap in approval.

KROQ Weenie Roast….Where is the Headliner?

Really KROQ? You always do so much better. Maybe I’m just out of the loop of popular music, but am I really supposed to believe that TRV$DJ-AM and Rancid are really supposed to headline a seated festival in an Amphitheater. On top of that tickets are priced at $65 a piece for seats and $55 for lawn (by the way that’s not including taxes and service fee’s).

Sure there is talent on the bill, but where is the drawing power? Where is your mega band? What happend to the days of bombshell’s being droped every year like “Metallica to Headline” or “Gun’s N’ Roses Reunite“.

Could KROQ have something big up their sleeve for the last minute? They are known to throw in act’s at the last second. But under 24 hours is cutting it really close especially with no announcement or even any hints. In my humble opinion, I think the biggest possibility if the possibility of Blink 182 headlining. Travis Barker is already on the bill, and so is Weezer who are going to be there support act for Blink’s summer tour. And if that isn’t enough Blink recently had their first show in 5 year performing at a secret show after Weezer at a T-Mobile Sidekick release party.

How the shows going to turn out remains to be seen. The only sure thing is that Stardum will be there to give you the up to date news. Stay Tuned.

Kottonmouth Kings Release ‘Pack Your Bowls’ Video

Australian Tour With Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog
Starts April 29th, 2009

Southern Cali rap-rock hybrids, the Kottonmouth Kings are still riding high from their annual 4/20 celebration with the release a new video for the track “Pack Your Bowls” online at www.KottonmouthKings.com. The track appears on the group’s tenth studio effort “The Green Album”, which was released through Suburban Noize Records.

Kottonmouth Kings have also released the conclusion to their new video feature “America’s Most Busted!” online at http://www.kottonmouthkings.com/happy-4-2-0-from-the-kottonmouth-kings/. The clip spoofs the Kings being busted by police and shows how this group of outlaw misfits get themselves out of a sticky situation.

We shot ‘America’s Most Busted’ as a comedy sketch,” says Kottonmouth Kings’ Daddy X. “The video is part of a DVD called ‘Lost Adventures’ that will appear in our upcoming ‘Hidden Stash 4′ CD/DVD that is coming out this summer. We also shot a green screen video for the stoner anthem ‘Pack Your Bowls’ and now we’re packing our bags to head to Australia. The most important thing for us is that after 13 years of doing this we’re still having fun. We’re probably having more fun now than we’ve ever had.

Kottonmouth Kings recently wrapped up their annual 4/20 Freedom Fest tour and will now head down under to Australia for a headlining tour alongside Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog.

The Demise of Chuck Liddell

April 23, 2009 | Filed Under Chuck Liddell, MMA, Mandy More, Mike G, Mixed Martial Arts | No Comments

So you just got knocked the F$#* OUT by a less than 100% Shogun. Your old friend Dana White is saying your career is over, and all you can think about is what you’re going to do with your life. Well isn’t it obvious?! Sell yourself to a music video for some bubble gum pop artist.

You can now see the Iceman in Mandy Moore’s new music video for her song “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week” I couldn’t believe it either until I saw it for myself. The only logical reason I could come up with is that he was offered a dump truck full of cash, or at least that’s what I’m trying to make myself believe.

Just take a look at the video and pay attention around the 2:10 mark as Mandy opens her trench coat to show a dress, that is barely riskay for the Amish community, and watch chuck deliver a Oscar worthy drool inducing rapist grin. Pretty disturbing actually. But that is all quickly fallowed up with yet another Chuck Liddell Knock out.

Don’t believe me? Go see for yourself.

Slash From the Past: (2006) All The Boys Love Mandy Lane

April 23, 2009 | Filed Under Film, Horror, Mike G, review | No Comments

As a huge fan of horror, there’s nothing more disappointing then eagerly waiting for a movie that appears to be good, hyped up and finally when I get a chance to view the film, it turns out to be a huge waste of time. An utter letdown. That’s exactly what ‘All the Boys Love Mandy Lane’ turned out to be. Director Jonathan Levine was lucky enough to snag another movie after this one with ‘The Wackness’ in 2008.

Mandy Lane (Amber Heard of ‘Never Back Down’) is lusted after every horny male in high school. After a tragic event occurs at a wild party and leaving one of her fellow friends dead…or not, she withdraws from society mentally and emotionally. Nine months later, the mysteriously quiet Mandy is still being lusted after by the males (surprise surprise) who have graciously invited her to tag along and some others as they head to a ranch for a weekend of drinking, smoking and sexual escapades. Once they arrive at the ranch, they meet the ranch caretaker Garth (Anson Mount of ‘Crossroads’) and that’s when the gang is picked off one by one. Is it Garth or is it somebody else from the past? The world may never know!

I should have known that this horror/thriller was going to be a complete waste of time when The Weinstein’s distribution company Dimension Films shifted the release date all over the scheduling charts and then finally dropping the film entirely. ‘Mandy Lane’ was scheduled to be released in ‘06 but after continuous release date changes, supposedly it will hit US cinemas on July 17th of this year. However, it was released in the UK last February and hasn’t received positive reviews. I just happened to catch this flick at a special viewing.

‘Mandy Lane’ is full of awful dialogue, horrible acting by actress Whitney Able and the motive of the killer(s) is ridiculous. Whitney was recently ranked #83 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2008 list. Well maybe she should venture into modeling and just pose MUTE at the photographer. Just a thought.

There were a couple of decent points about the film which were the acting chops of the stunningly beautiful Amber Heard and Anson Mount. There were a couple of bloody scenes of death. Also, it had a ‘70s style of editing applied to various scenes throughout the film that I thought were really cool.

All in all, this movie was not worth the celluloid that it was printed on and if it actually does make it to cinemas in the US, it will not last very long and will hit video stores weeks later. All the boys may love Mandy Lane but I certainly wasn’t one of them.

PENNYWISE FAMILY SUFFERS LOSS

April 11, 2009 | Filed Under Mike G, Music, news | No Comments

We just recently were informed of some saddening news, and had it confirmed to us by the Myspace update below that was released by Pennywise recently.

Sadly, the Pennywise family has suffered another loss. On Sunday, April 5, 2009, Kristian Dragge, little brother of Pennywise lead guitarist Fletcher Dragge, tragically passed away at the young age of 39. He left behind his fiancée, Cindy Linn Groeneweg, and their 1-month old baby girl, Avery Nycole Dragge, as well as his mother Karen Dragge.

The following is from older brother Fletcher Dragge:

My brother Kristian has been a member of the South Bay punk rock scene since 1980 and was at one time the guitar player in the infamous Smut Peddlers. He was a legend in the punk rock community and was well know for his hell-raising antics, along with his fierce loyalty to friends and family. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He has been a huge part of the Pennywise family since Day One.

I remember him helping me hang the carpet to soundproof the garage that we formed Pennywise in. I also remember him lugging our equipment from gig to gig, starting mosh pits, as well as the fight he got into the very first time Pennywise ever played live. It was a backyard party in Redondo Beach.

It was about four songs into the set when he was jumped by three guys. We all stopped playing, dropped our guitars and jumped in to help him, just like he would have done for any of us. That’s what Pennywise has always been about, taking care of family. That’s why we are setting up a trust fund for his month old baby girl Avery Nycole, in order to assure that she has everything she’ll ever need growing up.

Any donations at this time would be greatly appreciated. There is no amount too small, anything will help. Thanks to everyone for the outpouring of love and support in this time of need, it has been overwhelming.

KRISTIAN YOU WILL BE FOREVER MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN R.I.P.

Love your brother Fletcher…..Jim, Byron, and Randy.

The charity on behalf of Avery Nycole Dragge will be set up shortly in her name. More details to come.
