Dana White, Forrest Griffin, and Kenny….Florini??
I’m sure if you are a fan of fights, both in and out of the cage, you have at one time or another seen backyard brawl video’s online. With the recent popularity of MMA and all the hype the UFC has been receving over the last few years. It was only a matter of time till the backyard brawling and Ultimate Fighting would be linked together. That’s exactly what happened on a recent episode of Dr. Phil entitled, Dangerous Teenage Trends.
Mr. UFC himself Dana White graced the stage along with Forrest Griffin and Kenny Florian, or as Dr. Phil likes to call him Kenny Florini. They all came on the show to talk to two boy’s who garnered some popularity online after they posted a video of them going at it Fight Club style in a classroom.
I’m assuming the point for them coming on was to shy the kids away from a life of fighting, but It’s just seemed like the best they could come up with was “Just be careful“. On top of that Forrest added that he appreciated their spirit. I’m no psychologist but if I was an impressionable young lad aspiring to becoming a cage fighter and Forrest Griffin said he appreciated my spirit, I would probably go film another fight that same night. So it’s probably not exactly what Dr. Phil was expecting.
Oh and Dana White, I think the subject matter of the day just flew straight over his head because all he was really talking about was the comparison he makes between boxing and MMA. Here check it out for yourself.

Craig Robinson: Baddest Man on the Planet
You may have known him from The Office, or maybe from one of his many movies. Most recently from Pineapple Express. Maybe you were lucky enough to see him perform with the Nasty Delicious. But from here on I decree that he be known as the man who stuck it to the judicial system and won.
Lets backtrack for a min for everyone who doesn’t know what the story is. Back in 2008 Craig Robinson was rolled by the cops for a traffic violation (or so they say). That’s when they found a butt load of drugs on him (meth and ecstasy). He was also under the influence of cocaine, amphetamines and cannabinoids.
Excuse my french but, any other man would be fucked, straight fucked. But not Mr. Nasty Delicious. Him and his brilliant lawyer came up with the perfect defense. All he had to say was that he was guilty of driving while big and black. Yeah he took some Drug education classes and meetings, BUT STILL! Who else can honestly say they could have gotten out of doing some serious time, and lets not use the celebrity excuse. As much as I love the guy he’s not an A list celebrity.
So to you Craig Robinson, Mr. Nasty Delicious, we salute you! Your quick thinking, fast talking, and smooth personality got you out of a hell of a situation. All we can do is Clap in approval.
KROQ Weenie Roast….Where is the Headliner?
Really KROQ? You always do so much better. Maybe I’m just out of the loop of popular music, but am I really supposed to believe that TRV$DJ-AM and Rancid are really supposed to headline a seated festival in an Amphitheater. On top of that tickets are priced at $65 a piece for seats and $55 for lawn (by the way that’s not including taxes and service fee’s).
Sure there is talent on the bill, but where is the drawing power? Where is your mega band? What happend to the days of bombshell’s being droped every year like “Metallica to Headline” or “Gun’s N’ Roses Reunite“.
Could KROQ have something big up their sleeve for the last minute? They are known to throw in act’s at the last second. But under 24 hours is cutting it really close especially with no announcement or even any hints. In my humble opinion, I think the biggest possibility if the possibility of Blink 182 headlining. Travis Barker is already on the bill, and so is Weezer who are going to be there support act for Blink’s summer tour. And if that isn’t enough Blink recently had their first show in 5 year performing at a secret show after Weezer at a T-Mobile Sidekick release party.
How the shows going to turn out remains to be seen. The only sure thing is that Stardum will be there to give you the up to date news. Stay Tuned.

Kottonmouth Kings Release ‘Pack Your Bowls’ Video
Australian Tour With Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog
Starts April 29th, 2009
Southern Cali rap-rock hybrids, the Kottonmouth Kings are still riding high from their annual 4/20 celebration with the release a new video for the track “Pack Your Bowls” online at www.KottonmouthKings.com. The track appears on the group’s tenth studio effort “The Green Album”, which was released through Suburban Noize Records.
Kottonmouth Kings have also released the conclusion to their new video feature “America’s Most Busted!” online at http://www.kottonmouthkings.com/happy-4-2-0-from-the-kottonmouth-kings/. The clip spoofs the Kings being busted by police and shows how this group of outlaw misfits get themselves out of a sticky situation.
“We shot ‘America’s Most Busted’ as a comedy sketch,” says Kottonmouth Kings’ Daddy X. “The video is part of a DVD called ‘Lost Adventures’ that will appear in our upcoming ‘Hidden Stash 4′ CD/DVD that is coming out this summer. We also shot a green screen video for the stoner anthem ‘Pack Your Bowls’ and now we’re packing our bags to head to Australia. The most important thing for us is that after 13 years of doing this we’re still having fun. We’re probably having more fun now than we’ve ever had.”

Mower Offer Update from Hedpe Tour
San Diego, CA’s Mower are currently tearing up the US and shredding audiences alongside Hedpe on the “New World Orphans” Tour with Dirtball and DGAF. The band has checked in with the following update from the road:
“We’re happy to be back out on the road with our friends in (Hed)pe, they are totally destroying it these days. Every night Mower whips the crowd into pits, they’re screaming, chanting, having a great time and we leave the stage thinking we just saw the place go crazy,” says Mower’s Brian Sheerin. “Then (Hed)pe takes the stage with this catalog of songs everyone loves, great covers and they flip the whole crowd on its head. It’s amazing to see them in action and it ups our game every night. You add DGAF and The Dirtball to the mix and you get a really great value for your ticket money. We’re really happy to be a part of this one as the underground is where it’s at right now.”
Mower have titled their upcoming new album “Make It A Double” and set a July 28th, 2009 release date through Suburban Noize Records. The album was recorded in Los Angeles, CA with producer Eddie Wohl (Anthrax, 36 Crazyfists) and will include nine new Mower songs along with six songs by Mower’s jazz lounge alter-ego, Slower. Weaving together numerous musical styles from hard rock to jazz, Mower’s “Make It A Double” dives farther into the group’s hardcore roots to unleash their heaviest songs to date while experimenting with slower tempos, creepy riffs and hazy mellow tones on the Slower side of the album.
“With ‘Not For You‘ our mindset was to write good songs in any style we felt like. Amongst all the punk, metal, industrial and whiskey tracks we did was this trippy jazz/lounge number called ‘L.A. Riot’, which was the genesis of our new alter-ego, Slower,” says Sheerin. “As ‘Make It A Double’ developed we created Slower songs by completely remanufacturing tracks from the first two albums and we were able to experiment with a new vibe. That allowed us to focus on making the new Mower material heavy across the board. ”

La Coka Nostra Added To Rock The Bells
With anticipation at feverish levels for La Coka Nostra’s upcoming debut “A Brand You Can Trust”, the group has announced they will appear at this year’s Rock The Bells hip-hop festival performing alongside a reunited House of Pain. The tour is expected to hit 10 North American cities from June 27- Aug. 9 and will feature Nas, Damian Marley, the Roots, Big Boi and Common, among others.
The group recently completed their sold-out Bring Tha Noize Tour with Kottonmouth Kings and has offered the following tour recap:
“The Bring Tha Noize Tour was dope. Every night the venues were packed and the fans matched the energy that we brought to the stage. With La Coka Nostra and Kottonmouth Kings on the same bill, you had to know that it was going to be a wild party when you bought the ticket, and that’s exactly what it was,” says La Coka Nostra’s Slaine. “Kids were moshing and going crazy in just about every city in the country. Now that the tour is over, I am short a few more brain cells, and I am looking forward to doing it all over again soon.”
La Coka Nostra’s “A Brand You Can Trust” will surface through Suburban Noize Records on July 14th, 2009. The group’s debut features an all-star roster of collaborations between La Coka Nostra and Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Bun B, Psycho Realm, Q-Unique, Immortal Technique and the Alchemist. The group’s video for the track “I’m An American” can be viewed online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3qU821mlqM.
“When we first started recording tracks for La Coka, we knocked a lot of joints out at once, and there was a lot of hype and buzz around the project and the group. We started leaking those tracks to feed the hunger that was out there, but in the meantime I think we raised the bar and created an expectation level within the group to really make a dope record,” says Slaine. “While we were on the Bring Tha Noize tour, I had the headphones on and listened to the final version of the album sequenced, mixed and mastered, and bugged out at how good it is. We set out to make a boom bap hip-hop record and we did that, but to stop there would be selling it short, because lyrically, musically, and sonically this album doesn’t fit in a box. This summer the world will finally hear what the is really going on with La Coka Nostra.”
PENNYWISE FAMILY SUFFERS LOSS
We just recently were informed of some saddening news, and had it confirmed to us by the Myspace update below that was released by Pennywise recently.
Sadly, the Pennywise family has suffered another loss. On Sunday, April 5, 2009, Kristian Dragge, little brother of Pennywise lead guitarist Fletcher Dragge, tragically passed away at the young age of 39. He left behind his fiancée, Cindy Linn Groeneweg, and their 1-month old baby girl, Avery Nycole Dragge, as well as his mother Karen Dragge.
The following is from older brother Fletcher Dragge:
My brother Kristian has been a member of the South Bay punk rock scene since 1980 and was at one time the guitar player in the infamous Smut Peddlers. He was a legend in the punk rock community and was well know for his hell-raising antics, along with his fierce loyalty to friends and family. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He has been a huge part of the Pennywise family since Day One.
I remember him helping me hang the carpet to soundproof the garage that we formed Pennywise in. I also remember him lugging our equipment from gig to gig, starting mosh pits, as well as the fight he got into the very first time Pennywise ever played live. It was a backyard party in Redondo Beach.
It was about four songs into the set when he was jumped by three guys. We all stopped playing, dropped our guitars and jumped in to help him, just like he would have done for any of us. That’s what Pennywise has always been about, taking care of family. That’s why we are setting up a trust fund for his month old baby girl Avery Nycole, in order to assure that she has everything she’ll ever need growing up.
Any donations at this time would be greatly appreciated. There is no amount too small, anything will help. Thanks to everyone for the outpouring of love and support in this time of need, it has been overwhelming.
KRISTIAN YOU WILL BE FOREVER MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN R.I.P.
Love your brother Fletcher…..Jim, Byron, and Randy.
The charity on behalf of Avery Nycole Dragge will be set up shortly in her name. More details to come.
