Jardine, Sherk-Medical Suspensions

Keith Jardine has been sidelined from MMA competition until cleared by Doctors due to an acute nasal fracture. Jardine took multiple punches to the head and face during his nearly one minute match with Wanderlai Silva. Silva managed to come out the victor after beating Jardine to the Octagon ground. It looked as if Jardine would be leaving on a stretcher the way his body remained completely stiff and rigid after the ref broke up the madness. Jardine will be out until November 21 unless cleared earlier by doctors.
Sean Sherk is suspened until July 7th following his bout with BJ Penn. Sherk suffered multiple cuts, bruises and one large laceration to his right cheek that have made him unable to compete until doctors evaluate and clear him for competition. Sherk suffered a 3rd round defeat via TKO to BJ Penn. The cut looks to be a result of Penn’s vicious jab.

May 30, 2008 | Filed Under EliteXc, Gina Carano, Kimbo Slice, MMA, Mixed Martial Arts | 1 Comment

This Saturday is not just a precursor for this Sunday’s WEC Faber vs Pulver event rather it’s a large chunk of mma moments wrapped into one night. EliteXC will be showcasing their mma flagship Kimbo Slice as he battles a very game James Thompson. EliteXC will also be highlighting Robbie Lawler and Gina Carano. Lawler will be facing Scott Smith in a title match-up that will undoubtedly feature much striking. Gina Carano, a well seasoned kick boxer, will be facing Kaitlin Young in women’s match. Women’s bouts are not often broadcast and it will be interesting to see if the hyped Carano can take down the very fit Young. Last but not least Kimbo. Yes, Kimbo is expected to win and win big. He is expected to smash his way into our collective consciousness like so many scary movie villains. EliteXC wants the new face of mma to be their fighter. The fans just want to see good striking, a clear ground game and strong fights. Tune in Saturday night to CBS to see if that’s what we get.

May 30, 2008 | Filed Under 50 Cent, Entertainment, Music, crime | No Comments

Rapper, Actor, Musician, Animal Rights Activist, Geo-Political Diplomat of Prestige and Guard..some of these words have been used to describe Curtis Jackson. Other words like valet, Oscar winning actor, critical acclaim, have not. But that doesn’t mean the Rapper known as 50 Cent can’t have a 2.4 million dollar home caught in the middle of a “kinda” family dispute get burned in a “strange and mysterious” fire. Stardum stumbled unknowingly onto the details being spilled here by the AP Press:
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities say six people are hospitalized after a “suspicious” fire burned down a multimillion-dollar Long Island home owned by Grammy-nominated rapper 50 Cent.
Now we do know the house of was a hot point between 50 and a long time lover who “claimed he had promised her the $2.4 million house more than a decade ago,” according to the AP Press.

This Equals That: OMG Guest Writer!!

May 30, 2008 | Filed Under Britney Spears, This Equals That, stardum | No Comments

Every now and then our This Equals That writing phenomenon needs to take a small requiem from his daily ongoing insightfulness. On the fateful day he does bow out for one small piece of literary time and place he says, “Embrace your fellow guest writer, for he is but the one who wrote in and asked.” Now enjoy the intellect and observation of Reader #237 aka Jeff the Chef:
What is it about life that we fear? Is it our own selves and the infinite potential that we have as creators? Or is it the fact that we have squandered said power by virtue of our inherent stupidity? Is there really anyway to accurately describe our direct experience of the world? How many of us in society are actually “self aware”? Did we ever actually know a time we weren’t at war with something? When we actually cared about something collectively, even if we didn’t care about each other? When we knew why our hearts were beating and what are hands were for? It’s tough to say if there ever was such a time. It’s even tougher to say if there ever will be…
That’s exactly what Britney Spears said to us at the gym. That’s Jeff the Chef everybody. Wow… Ok, breathe again folks it’s alright he’s left the building and the cartoons are back on. Let’s all take a minute to digest what exactly Jeff was getting at here:
Jeff vs. Life’s potential= Questions riddled with unanswerable enigmas
Jeff vs. Physical nature= He’s the twisted one.
Jeff vs. Philosophical mysteries and Bi-sexuality= Clearly, he is confused.

Bill Murray: A Sad Day in a Funny Life

May 30, 2008 | Filed Under Bill Murray, Exclusives, divorce, tmz | No Comments

It was recently reported that actor Bill Murray’s wife of 10 years Jennifer Butler Murray has filed for divorce. As friends and family helped a newly broken couple pick up the pieces and prepare for a completely different way of living life TMZ stepped in to air this dirty laundry: “According to court docs, Jennifer and the couple’s four children moved out of the family home in 2006 because of what she says was her husband’s “adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behavior, physical abuse, sexual addictions and frequent abandonment.” The docs also say the star “hit his wife in the face and then told her she was ‘lucky he didn’t kill her’ ” and that this happened more than once during their marriage.”
We hope our readers understand we aim to take joy in the silly nonsense that is our culture’s fascination with celebrity not as TMZ does which is take joy from simply spitting people’s personal issues and private life across webpages like so many sad cattle dot the slaughter house lawn. Good luck Mr. Murray and thank you for the work you’ve done.

Rachel Ray is a terrorist?

May 30, 2008 | Filed Under Entertainment, Rachel Ray, scarf, television, terrorism | No Comments

As the threat level reaches orange and our troops fight through one more bloody month we can rest easy that though no one is doing a damn thing to lower gas prices in a drained and banged economy someone has managed to infiltrate the top brass over at Dunkin Donuts and pull that Rachel Ray ad where she’s dressed like a terrorist soccer mom. Can you believe that a woman so sensitive to the tastes and pleasures of good ol’ fashioned folks would wear a black and white scarf that looks to be closely matched to that of a scarf worn by Yasser Arafat? Rachel Ray is most likely donating time, money and canned goods to the other side at this point. She’s making Osama look stingy. Good thing Dunkin Donuts had the balls to say, “Hey you know what psycho conservative right wing pundit meat head hypocrite bathroom stall opinion spewing sociopathic robot of the mule version of life we should pull that ad cause that scarf looks kinda like a muslim headpiece.” Well, do you wanna live in a country where terrorists can get away with selling donuts and morning coffee?…and enjoy warm pizza? Well, do ya?

BJ Penn tastes Blood

May 30, 2008 | Filed Under B.J. Penn, MMA, Mixed Martial Arts, Sean Sherk, UFC 84 | No Comments

MMA fans around the globe are still reeling from the decisive victory BJ Penn had over Sean Sherk. The amount of damage Penn inflicted on a dominated Sherk was outrageous. Sherk’s face by the third round was a bloody pulp with strange lumps and bruises forming throughout. The jab Penn used through the duration of the fight was what inflicted a consistent amount of vision damage and balance damage to Sherk. Sherk was unable to answer back as his reach was painfully unavailable against the longer armed fighter. Penn pushed the pace from the outside while also maintaining near perfection in takedown defense and precision punching. But let’s put all that aside for minute and focus on the real shocker: When the fight ended Penn ran over to a downed Sean Sherk, wiped his fingers across the man’s face then licked the blood. This is not the first time Penn has done this sort of thing. We’re not going to go into details and name names (Hughes, Stevenson) but Penn is one talented fighter and crazy guy.
